Michael Szopiak

Associate Program Director, Center for STEM Education

Michael Szopiak serves as associate program director for the Center for STEM Education. In this role, Szopiak supports various academic, programmatic, and research efforts of the Center, including the Notre Dame STEM Teaching Fellows program. His primary interest lies at the intersection of science and theology, and, specifically, how Catholic school communities foster learning environments for young people to meaningfully engage the STEM disciplines in dialogue with the Catholic tradition and their journeys of faith.

Szopiak began teaching through the Alliance for Catholic Education as a member of ACE 21, and has taught both high school science and high school theology. He is a 2014 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and holds master degrees in education and theology, also from the University of Notre Dame.
